Under the direct supervision of the Patient Access Manager, the Pre-Services Supervisor is responsible for assisting the management team with the daily operations of all functions of the scheduling, insurance, verification/authorization, and preadmission areas. The Supervisor integrates the department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions, operational policies and procedures that guide or support service, assesses and improves department performance, and ensures orientation and continuing education of department staff. As a key member of the management team, this person drives excellence in customer service.
The Pre-Services Supervisor is responsible to maintain various software builds as required to meet the needs of the department and our customers. The supervisor is designated superuser with special training in our scheduling software, order facilitator systems as well as designated registration/scheduling software and any other tools used in pre-services. The Supervisor will orientate, perform continuing education, cross-training and be available to provide support to the department staff in an effort to improve department performance. The Pre-Services Supervisor will maintain ongoing excellent physician office relations and be an active member of process improvement for scheduling, insurance verification and preadmission.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Requires 5 years previous hospital experience and/or experience in a hospital scheduling department or physician’s appointment coordinator or free-standing imaging facility with scheduling background, including insurance verification authorization experience.
- Minimum 1-year prior supervisor or team lead experience.
- Minimum 2 years prior patient access or medical access experience
- Basic clerical skills; minimum typing speed of approximately 50 wpm
- Windows based knowledge.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD 10 required.
