Under the general supervision of the Director, Surgical Services, and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for providing surgical scrub on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competencies. The Surgical Technologist may also circulate on assigned cases under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Also encompass all specialties and age groups adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Specialties include: orthopedic, general, ENT, Gyn, and CV.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas or CST certification under the NBSTSA certification program.
- Experience in providing Operating Room services as a surgical technician.
- Current verification of competency in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Healthcare Provider Course including pediatric resuscitation.
